Low and slow is the name of the game with these bananas. Depending on what kind of grill you are using at home- charcoal, gas, or wood fired, you won’t be disappointed with the end result and how easy it is to amplify your banana split set up.

INGREDIENTS: (2 banana splits)

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • your favorite ice cream (Blue Bell or homemade DUH)
  • Nilla Waffers
  • Sorghum/Honey/Caramel
  • Crunchy Sea Salt **crunchy salt makes everything better**

-Once you are done grilling for the evening, find a hot place on the grill or right above the ember pit and add your bananas peel and all.

-While you are eating dinner and cleaning up dishes, your bananas will be out on the grill caramelizing from the inside out. Once one side of the banana is black, give them a flip about 30 minutes in. You should start seeing the sugars of the banana oozing out, that is the best sign.

-Once your bananas are black, the fruit on the inside will be super soft to the touch. Essentially over an hour, the banana will turn black entirely and the inside fruit will turn super sweet due to the sugars on the inside caramelizing.

-Remove off the grill, let cool for 10-15 minutes in the fridge (in the peel).

-Cut in half, and serve it up with your favorite banana split toppings.
